Chaturvedi, and former Foreign Secretary Shri A.P. Venkateshwaran. The Asia Centre has been registered as a Society under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960.

The Asia Centre Bangalore is an independent, non-partisan Institute; a think tank dealing with all aspects of defence and security. It is a multi-disciplinary organisation drawing its members from former policy makers, academics, diplomats, defence service officers, development bankers, researchers, authors and captains of industry. ACB provides a platform for the free exchange of ideas and analysis leading to policy inputs for leaders in Government, business and industry and civil society. ACB conducts seminars, lectures, studies and ‘Track two’ dialogues on issues of topical importance. It also published paper and books.

ACB focuses primarily on Asia extending from Eurasia in the west to Oceania in the east. As such it must demonstrate public benefit in all it does and ensure that it is not identified with any political partisanship. ACB funds itself independently, drawing income from its membership subscriptions, the sale of its various outputs and from research contracts, donations, and from events funded by a wide range of sources, private and governmental.

ACB mission is to further independent debate on defence and security in India and across the wider world. The Centre receives no core government funding. ACB’s essential intellectual independence is upheld regardless of its independent funding sources. ACB sets its own agenda, chooses its own topics to research and has a responsibility to reflect its research findings truthfully. ACB rejects funding that is incompatible with its independence or honesty. This independence is maintained as an on-going process by senior management, and overseen by the Centre’s Governing Board.

ACB is committed to the intellectual integrity of its research and to the highest quality standards in all that it does. It employs individuals on the basis of equality of treatment and good working practices.

ACB has a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Council for World Affairs.
