
Brig Vinodh Mani
A senior Indian Army officer trained at the National Defence Academy and the Indian Military Academy, with extensive command, staff, and instructional experience.
Commissioned into the 2nd Battalion, 5th Gorkha Rifles (Frontier Force) in Dec 1968, fought the 1971 War in Bangladesh with the Battalion and later had the honour of commanding the same battalion in Uri. Held key command appointments including command of two brigades—one in the Strike Corps and another on the Line of Control in the Rajouri sector during the Kargil Ops. Also served as Deputy Commander of the Plateau Brigade.
Held a range of important staff and instructional appointments across training establishments and operational organisations. This includes tenures at the National Defence Academy, the Officers Training Academy, Chennai, the Corps of Military Police, and the Indian Army Training Command (ARTRAC). He has also served in the Indian Military Training Team in Bhutan.
Lastly, he served as the President of the Service Selection Board and Commandant of the Gorkha Recruitment Depot, Gorakhpur.
